This Privacy Policy explains how YESEO (“App,” “we,” or “us”) collects and uses the information you provide when using our service. This policy applies to all visitors, customers and users who access the App.

Information Collection and Use

At YESEO, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information about you when you use our app for Slack. By using YESEO, you agree to the collection and use of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use YESEO:

Your Slack user ID and workspace ID
Messages and other content you submit through YESEO
Analytics data about your use of YESEO

We may also collect information about you from third-party sources, such as Slack, in order to provide you with a better experience using YESEO.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve YESEO, as well as to develop new features and services. Specifically, we use your information to:

Translate messages for you in real-time
Provide customized notifications and alerts
Improve YESEO's performance and reliability
Analyze user behavior and preferences to better understand how we can improve YESEO

We will not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except as described in this Privacy Policy or with your consent.

3. Personal Data and Retention Periods

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide you with YESEO's services and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We will also retain and use your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

We will delete your personal data when it is no longer needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or when you request us to do so.

4. Encryption

When a story is entered into YESEO it is since April 10, 2024 encrypted in the databases and endpoints in the application. All story text is encrypted into data and decrypted for use on services that include, but are not limited to, API endpoints where the full text is necessary.

Story data and messages for users are encrypted whereby the application can only read them using the encryption key only it has.

5. Security

We take appropriate measures to protect the security of your personal data, both online and offline. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

We collect certain personal data from users in order to facilitate their use of the App. This includes details given from Slack ("platform") such as user names, entered text, workspace information as well as other information provided by the platform. The YESEO app is an educational tool that seeks to improve users' SEO best practices. This project was developed with funding from the Reynolds Journalism Institute fellowship program at the University of Missouri. When you download the application and interact with it in your workspace you voluntarily provide us with data on your usage of our services. We are also collecting data on commands issued which may save items like text, dates and other content from a request in our data. When you install the app into your workspace you are voluntarily consenting to this privacy policy.

Interaction Data Policy

When you interact with components of the App, we are collecting analytics on usage, which give us content such as various anonymous identifiers Slack uses. We use them to facilitate the messages you see in your experience. We save data of interactions to compile analytics. This information is stored for the experience purposes and becomes property of RJL Digital Corp. (the company) and may be distributable to other users of the service unbeknownst to the user who has originally requested the data. The data will be stored in a dataset belonging to the company for the sake of distribution throughout the app.

Analytics Policy

We are storing items in Slack that include the name of the workspace and its hashed name. We also store user names and identifiers. We store commands and text sent through the data. We store identifiers for each record for future reference. Button clicks may be stored as data which in Slack gives the user name, type of message, channel, message and actions performed on the button click. These are collected and are used by the company to track experience as well as issues with the app. No user will ever know who requests data for any particular function the App provides other than themselves.

Unpublished Stories Policy

When a user enters text into a text box of a possibly unpublished story, that data will be covered in this policy. No user will have the right to access any unpublished story that they themselves have not entered into the system. Unpublished stories data cannot be used across the system in any command by any user other than the user who entered it. The user who entered it may have the option to share their findings to another user or channel, but it will be at their discretion whether to share the story to them. Even if they share it this way, it is ensured that the unpublished story can never leave the workspace. A user cannot retrieve information about an unpublished story using any of the available commands. Related to the Data Distribution Policy, only data that a workspace has entered will be eligible to request.

Data Distribution Policy

The data compiled by the app will be stored in a database belonging to the company. No workspace that uses the app will have a right to own this data. All data input and developed by the app will be stored in a manner that no workspace can access it unless interacting with the app. If a workspace would like to request usage statistics from the application, it will be up to the discretion of the company as to what meets the standard of distribution. A user or workspace admin/owner wishing to learn more about their data in the app can e-mail support@yeseo.app with the subject line "Data Request" to make any of these requests. Workspaces who install the App and request usage metrics will only ever have the right to access data for their own workspace.

Fair Use Disclaimer

Inputs in the app may contain copyrighted material whose use has not been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. We are making this data available in our datasets based on users requests and in efforts to advance the media and news industry's knowledge of improving best practices in search engine optimization. We are accessing websites as any user would to view the page and also receiving text inputs from users to facilitate improving the news industry’s knowledge into best practices in search engine optimization. We are storing keywords from published and unpublished stories and data associated with those terms to teach users to apply insights into their stories. We believe that this constitutes a "fair use" of the copyrighted material as provided for in section 107 of the US Copyright Law. We do not guarantee the accuracy of the data and accept no responsibility for any errors or omissions in its use. Data is used solely for the purpose of providing a better user experience in our app and should not be reused or distributed without prior written permission from the company.

Data Stability Policy

The App will attempt to store all data in a timely manner and provide it to users as needed when performing its service. It is possible that we may have to purge the data at any time if it becomes unstable. In the event this does happen, we may purge data from the system.

Data Deletion Policy

We take your privacy seriously, and you have the right to request that we delete your personal data that we have collected through YESEO. To request the deletion of your data, please contact us at support@yeseo.app with your request. We will respond to your request within 5-7 business days and will delete your data as soon as possible, in accordance with our retention policies and applicable laws.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately, after they are posted on this page.
